Hampstead Library News

HAMPSTEAD – On Sat., January 11, at 12 noon, the Hampstead Public Library will have a free family matinee. The feature presentation is the funny animated sequel about the ex-evildoer-turned-parental figure Gru and his three adopted girls. The library will provide some refreshments, but you are welcome to bring your own lunch or snack. For further details, call the library 329-6411.

BOOK DISCUSSION - On Thurs., January 16, at 1:00 p.m., the Library’s book club will discuss “The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake” by Aimee Bender. In this tale, young Rose bites into her mother’s homemade cake and discovers she has a magical gift: she can taste her mother’s emotions in the slice. Soon, Rose is privy to the secret knowledge that families keep hidden. As she grows up, Rose learns to harness her gift and becomes aware that there are secrets her taste buds cannot discern. Copies of the book are available at the library. Newcomers are always welcome to discussions.
