EAST KINGSTON —The Seacoast Modern Quilt Guild is currently exhibiting their quilts at the East Kingston Public Library. Exhibiting artists include: Laura Collins, Mary Gregory, Paula Krolikowski, Jessica Benoit May, Nancy Peach, Samantha Russell and Diane Sheckells.
The guild has been in existence for about one year and draws its membership from Maine to Massachusetts. It celebrates the modern aesthetic using traditional blocks in unusual settings. Negative space is used as a design element. The exhibit features work that was done in response to the Riley Blake challenge. The fabric company supplied fabrics in dots, checks and chevrons to use to create a quilted piece. Solid colors could be added. The results are unique.
