HPL Children's Room

HAMPSTEAD - The Hampstead Public Library’s special event “Bring Your Child to the Library” has a new date: Sat., February 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Families are invited to discover all the library has to offer: books, movies, museum passes, a telescope, puppet playhouse, interactive wall art, craft station and more. There will be food and activities throughout the day, plus raffles! In addition, anyone who gets their first library card will be entered in a special drawing. BOOKS AT BEAN TOWNE - On Thurs., February 20, at 4:00 p.m., Patty Falconer, the Youth Services Librarian from the Hampstead Public Library, is taking storytime on the road with a special event at Bean Towne Coffee House & Café on route 111. Parents are invited to bring the kids after school to enjoy great books, crafts and time with friends. While the kids get creative, adults can relax and enjoy the Bean Towne amenities. FEBRUARY OLYMPICS - Kids can come celebrate the Winter Olympics at the Hampstead Public Library during school break on Tues., February 25, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Join us for fun Olympic activities, get sporty, win medals!

    Meredith, NH — Elwood (Al) Shaw, 93, of Center Harbor, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Forestview Manor in Meredith. He was the beloved husband of the late Greta L. (Sykes) Shaw, to whom he was married for 62 years.

    Sandown, NH — Jo Ann (Phelps) Hughes of Sandown, New Hampshire passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, surrounded by all of her children at home. She was born in Little Bend Kentucky, to Beatrice (Shepherd) Phelps and John (Cat) Phelps in 1934. Jo Ann was predeceased by brothers, Marcus Phelps, Johnny Phelps, Forrest Phelps and sisters, Juanita Phelps, and Jeanette (Phelps) Vincent. She is survived by brother, Donald Quiggins of Georgia; sisters, Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.
