Classics at EKPL

By Diane Sheckells
Assistant Librarian

---- — EAST KINGSTON — Next time you visit the East Kingston Public Library be sure to check out our newly created classics section. Located on the end caps of the adult fiction and nonfiction aisles, classics from Dickens to Hemmingway can be found. Shakespeare and Jane Austin rub shoulders in this eclectic mix of standards. Modern masters like Golding, Fitzgerald and Orwell are represented as well as Homer and Dante. Perhaps this winter is the time to reread a text that had special meaning in your life.

Our search for classics has also extended to the DVD section. These re-mastered DVDs shine with the stars of yesteryear: Bogart and Bacall, Hepburn and Tracy. The magic of these couplings still create sparks on the screen. Share these movie memories with family and friends.

In line with the classics theme, we are pleased to share a display of antique cars and toys. Local antique dealer and collector, Steve Sheckells, is exhibiting some of his favorite cars and trucks from the 30’s through the 50’s. These American made classics represent compelling design and innovative technology that reached its apex during that period. Manufacturers like Tootsietoy, Renwal, Manoil and Hubley are represented. Peek into our display case and perhaps you will see a toy that was one of your favorites from Christmas past.

Come into the East Kingston Public Library soon and enjoy a classic holiday season. For more information, visit us online at www.eastkingstonlibrary.org, or call 603-642-8333.
