East Kingston Library News

EAST KINGSTON - The Friends of the East Kingston Public Library will host a performance by Irish folk singer, Paul Carroll on Tues., March 18, at 6:30 p.m. Now, a New Hampshire resident, Carroll grew up in Dublin and perfected his musical craft in Australia. He was a founding member of the Celtic band, Poteen. Visit his website for a taste of his ballads at www. pjcarroll.com.

Check out some popular, Irish authors. Maeve Binchy and Peter Taylor spin tales set on the emerald isle. Colum McCann’s new book, “Transatlantic”, has garnered great reviews. There is a new biography out about Edna O’Brien, a pioneer of Irish literature and women’s fiction. Anne Eright’s “The Gathering” depicts family dynamics within the format of the Irish wake. No one captures the Irish/American story quite like William Kennedy and his Albany trilogy. Sample one of the many examples of this rich Celtic tradition in great books.
