KINGSTON – Arts & Crafts Studio is visiting the Kingston Community Library on Thurs., March 6, at 6:00 p.m., for a Spin Art class. Join us and paint a keepsake box on the Spin Art machine, then decorate it with gem stones and glitter. Great for kids ages 5 and up!
Start a reading tradition with your daughter with a Mother-Daughter Book Club to be held on Tues., March 11, at 6:00 p.m. The program is for girls (grades 4-8) and their Mothers. This meeting will be to discuss “The Invention of Hugo Cabret: A Novel in Words and Pictures” by Brian Selznick. Miss Sue will serve snacks and refreshments, and book-talk a few titles for the May meeting. Books for the March Meeting will be available for pickup.
Join us at the Sanborn Regional High School for: Islam in the Media on Thurs., March 13, at 7:00 p.m. Susan Douglass, from the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University, will explore how we are exposed to Islam in the media. Terms such as jihad and hijab come across our news media on nearly a daily basis, becoming household words with no context. Douglass will provide approaches to these difficult topics, access to primary and secondary sources, and activities to help individuals engage critically with these issues.
Story time fun continues. Book Babies, a story time for children ages 0-36 months meets every Monday at 10:30. Preschool Story Time is on Thursdays at 10:30 for children ages 3 to 5. Check the children’s web page for updates or schedule changes.
