---- — HAMPSTEAD - February movie night at the Hampstead Public Library is on Thurs., February 27, at 6:30 p.m. The feature presentation stars Academy Award winner Tom Hanks as U.S. cargo-ship captain Richard Phillips. When his ship is pursued and captured by a handful of Somali pirates, Captain Phillips faces off against their leader in an effort to protect the lives of his crew. This film was nominated for 6 Academy Awards including Best Picture. This movie presentation is free and open to the public.
OLYMPICS - Kids can come celebrate the Winter Olympics at the Library during school break on Tues., February 25, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Join us for fun Olympic activities, get sporty, win medals!
STORYTIME - There will be no Storytime for 3 to 5 year old children during school break week at the Hampstead Public Library, February 24 to 28. Storytime will resume on Mon., March 3. Families are always welcome to visit the library and make use of the kid-friendly resources like books, computers, puzzles, Legos®, craft table, puppet house, and more.
BOOK DISCUSSION - Copies of “Crow Lake” by Mary Lawson are now available at the Hampstead Public Library for the March meeting of their Book Group. Set in an Ontario farming community, this novel is about brothers who must hold their family together, after their parents are killed in an accident. It is told from the perspective of their younger sister Kate, who is now an adult. In this novel of family love and misunderstandings, the author builds tension with control and humor, while continually overturning expectations. The book discussion takes place on Thursday, March 20 at 1 p.m. Newcomers are welcome.
