SANDOWN – Along with our regular weekly activities, the Library has planned a few special events for friends and neighbors to enjoy. Upcoming programs include a Halloween Party for the children, home decorating tips, floral centerpiece, and building stone walls. Be sure to sign up soon for these programs at or call 887-3428 for more information.

Harvest Floral Arrangement: Create a beautiful harvest floral arrangement to share for the Thanksgiving Holiday on Wed., November 7 at 6:30 p.m. Sandown resident Louise Chartier will guide participants as they make the centerpiece with fresh flowers and items found in most pantries. Registration for this adult program is required as space and supplies are limited. There will be a $5.00 charge to cover the cost of supplies.

Discovering New England Stone Walls: Don’t miss Master builder and author Ken Gardner, who will present an entertaining workshop on the art of New England stone wall building on Wed., November 14 at 6:30 p.m. Gardner has been building stone walls for years and written a book on the subject, “The Granite Kiss.” He will explain how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls, the ways in which they and other stone structures were built, how their styles emerged and changed over time, and their significance to the famous New England landscape. Library Closed for Veterans’ Day: Reminder that the library will be closed on Mon., November 12, in honor of Veterans’ Day.

New Start Time for Cribbage & Cards: Now beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, Sandown residents may drop in for a fun time and learn how to play cribbage, whist, 45’s or gin rummy. Brush up on your skills or learn a new game. All ages and abilities are welcome!

Knitting group on Mondays: Expert and beginning knitters are always welcome to join the knitting group that meets every Monday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Bring your current project with you to work on and share your knitting experience with the other crafters.
