KINGSTON – The Kingston Community Library continues to be the place to be all October with food, movies, and more!

Are you a chef in the making or just love to cook? Then enter our Patron and Staff Cook off! The cook off on Thurs., November 8 is a drop-in event, between 4:00-6:00 p.m., where you can sample literature inspired food created by the staff and patrons. Copies of recipes and their inspirational literature will be on display all week. All entries must be appetizers inspired by or taken from literature (fiction or non-fiction). Participants need to sign up the front desk by October 29, with the tile of their inspiration book. All participants will need to drop of their recipe and entry (cut or made into sample sizes) on November 8 by 3:00 p.m. Winners will be chosen by ballot by program attendees.

Are you a scrapbooker but never have time or space to make that book of memories? Then sign up to Join the Scrapbookers Retreat here at the library on Sat., October 27, from 10:00 a.m.- 10:00 p.m. Please bring all your own supplies, as this is simply a dedicated time for you to work on your own projects and to socialize with other scrapbookers. Space is limited; call to sign up, 642-3521.

Grab your bagged lunch and spend your lunch hour with Poe on Wednesdays, October 17 and 24, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. View biographies and film adaptations of Poe’s work and enjoy free coffee and refreshments.

A free screening of “The Raven”, the latest Poe adaptation, staring John Cusack will be shown on Thurs., October 18, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Popcorn will be provided.

Poe’s life and works, including The Tell-Tale Heart, Masque of the Red Death, Annabel Lee and The Raven will be brought to life by Eclectic Entertainment in a theater production not to be missed on Thurs., October 25, from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
