EPPING — The staff and Trustees of the Harvey-Mitchell Memorial Library wish to thank the 527 voters who said ‘yes’ to a new library building, as well as the patrons who said they wish they could have. Though it wasn’t enough to make the new building a reality, it was heartening to know the library is important to so many. Since the staff still has to discard nearly as many books as it adds each month, the Trustees will continue to look at reasonable options to help with accessibility, shelf space and filling the community needs of this growing town. A huge thank you to Heather Clark for her three very full years on the Board of Trustees, and a warm welcome to Charlie Goodspeed who will join existing Trustees Laurie Dudley, Lynn Reinhard, Michael Vose and returning Trustee Paul Miliotis.
Attention folks who are free on Mondays at 12:30 p.m.:Starting this month, adults are invited to enjoy a free movie on the big screen at The Monday Munch and Movie. Bring a lunch and something to drink and settle into a movie downstairs while the kids are still in school. A Tennessee Williams classic will grace the screen on March 25, featuring Anna Magnani who won the Academy Award in 1955 for her role in this film opposite Burt Lancaster. This program will continue throughout the spring. Dona Camara’s crafting workshop in March is scheduled for Sat., March 23, beginning at 2:00 p.m. This month the group will be making folding photo books that will be best for small or cropped photos. Interested crafters are asked to preregister by calling the main desk. There will be a $7.00 fee to cover the cost of materials.
Next week, the library will host a program full of traditional fiddle music and New England history, Old Time Rules Will Prevail: the Fiddle Contest in New Hampshire and New England. On Thurs., March 28 at 7:00 p.m., Adam Boyce will play his fiddle and discuss the history of fiddle contests in the Granite State. This program is funded with a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council and is offered free to the public.
