NEWTON —The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire will present their program, Dig into the Deep Sea: Fish Aren’t Afraid of the Dark, on Wed., August 14 at 1:00 p.m. Each participant will take home their own glowing creature activity. A sign-up sheet is located in the children’s room, as space is limited.

We still have seats available for a Kindle Workshop will be held on Wed., August 21 at 2:00 p.m. Jillian will share helpful hints and recommendations that will maximize usage and efficiency of your Kindle devices. Please bring along your Kindle and questions!

Morning Book Review will meet on Wed., August 21 at 10:30 a.m. This group shares their latest read along with great company and a morning snack. New members are always welcome to attend.

Cribbage games continue each Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. Stop in to play or learn the game, always an enjoyable evening!

Yarn Club meets each Friday afternoon from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Experienced helpers are here to assist with your project, or browse through our many craft books and magazines for ideas to start something new.

Stay posted for another cooking presentation with Chef Joy. He will visit us in September with a Hawaiian theme this time. More details will be forthcoming.

    Meredith, NH — Elwood (Al) Shaw, 93, of Center Harbor, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Forestview Manor in Meredith. He was the beloved husband of the late Greta L. (Sykes) Shaw, to whom he was married for 62 years.

  • Jo Ann Hughes, 79

    Sandown, NH — Jo Ann (Phelps) Hughes of Sandown, New Hampshire passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, surrounded by all of her children at home. She was born in Little Bend Kentucky, to Beatrice (Shepherd) Phelps and John (Cat) Phelps in 1934. Jo Ann was predeceased by brothers, Marcus Phelps, Johnny Phelps, Forrest Phelps and sisters, Juanita Phelps, and Jeanette (Phelps) Vincent. She is survived by brother, Donald Quiggins of Georgia; sisters, Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.
