Carriage Towne News
---- — Color me curious. In my travels in and out of Raymond, I notice that in other towns, gas prices fluctuate from station to station - not greatly, but the consumer does have a choice. And as they say, “a penny saved is a penny earned.”
But not in Raymond. All our gas stations charge the same amount per gallon, and most weeks, it’s 10 to 20 cents higher than in surrounding communities.
As a resident of Raymond, I’m left with a bad set of choices - I can’t shop locally because of the high prices, so I have to give my money to gas stations in surrounding towns as I travel the area.
Are we supposed to believe the identical gas prices are just a coincidence? Does it cost so much more to truck the gas to Raymond than it does to Candia or Exeter? All of these towns, including Raymond, have exits on Route 101, so that can’t be it. Are we trying to gouge Pawtuckaway visitors, at the expense of Raymond residents?
I’d love to know why the residents of Raymond, who may not have reason to travel to other towns, are left with no choice.
