Letters to the Editor

February 21, 2013

Freedom of Speech!

“I may disagree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”(Evelyn Hall-1887)

Let me start by saying that 99.9% of the people who read the Carriage Towne News are good, decent hard-working, patriotic people who want nothing more than to support their families and pursue their dreams for themselves and their family.

I am not a politician, but I am an Army veteran, and a small businessman with a degree in architectural engineering and a degree in psychology.

I have never received a dime in welfare and have always worked just like most of the rest of you.

I recently received a letter, not through letters to the editor, but at my home threatening me and my family.

Obviously the Coward didn’t like my opinions because they conflicted with his or hers.

The last time I looked I still enjoyed freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech is the “Bedrock” of our Constitution.

Normally if I receive a letter without a return address I throw it in the trash can because I don’t care what a coward has to say but I must admit this letter was different; it contained a threat and talked about the safety of my family.

I would hope that the good people of New Hampshire would be outraged by such a cowardly act in an attempt to intimidate me but actually it had just the opposite effect.

It is incumbent upon the people of New Hampshire to root out bums like this.

What happens when anyone writes something that this coward doesn’t like?

If any of us allow a coward like this to impinge upon my right to free speech whose rights will he threaten next? You guessed it, yours!

Robert Grier
