Foundation Greets 2013 With Success

Foundation Greets 2013 With Success

In 2003, the Roth Bicycle Foundation was born. Our mission is to donate new bicycles to the US Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Program for children in need. Since 2003, we have delivered over 1100 bicycles to the program.

We started off purchasing thirty bicycles and held the event in our home. We decided on bicycles since out of all our childhood gifts, a bicycle was one that was always remembered. Now, in 2013 we have grown to 200 bicycles being built in just one day with the help of many, many friends and volunteers.

This is our second year living in Kingston, and we are enjoying all of the people who we’ve met in just a short period of time. It’s so nice to live in a community where there are so many people that are willing to help and give up their time to help us organize this event each year.

We are so incredibly lucky to have people like the Brian Stack, Principal of the Sanborn Regional High School, provide us with the use of the cafeteria for our volunteers to assemble each and every bicycle. We also had the great pleasure in having many students that were in the school for their own activities for that day, break away and help us bring large tables from other areas of the school and help us assemble them in the cafeteria for us and also taking pride in being part of the “bike build”.

The Kingston Police Department and Chief Don Briggs are also instrumental in planning, staging and working with us to make this to become such a warm and spectacular event. They also give up their time and help us put together all the details and provide newer ideas each year so we can go onto the next bringing more smiles and happiness to so many kids that will get these bicycles.
