Successful Senior Thanksgiving Dinner

Successful Senior Thanksgiving Dinner

What a fabulous day we had on Thanksgiving with our local seniors and others in the community who wanted to share a meal together! This was the 27th Annual Senior Thanksgiving Day dinner and we were pleased to be hosted once again in the new Rent Fellowship Hall at the First Congregational Church, 6 Church Street, Kingston. Judy Oljey and her crew prepared more than 250 traditional turkey dinners as each guest enjoyed a sit down meal and were given a takeout meal and a Christmas gift when they departed.

This event is possible because of the loyal, dedicated volunteers who donate their goods, time and energy to make Thanksgiving Day a wonderful time for our Seniors and community friends to remember. Our volunteers are some of the nicest and most caring people you could ever meet! Did you bake a pie, roast a turkey, peel the vegetables, decorate the room, set the tables, make a donation of food or money, create personalized Thanksgiving cards, help park cars, serve the meal, stay for clean up?

Heartfelt gratitude goes out to each volunteer and person who donated items. Your kindness is overwhelming and ensured our guests had a marvelous time. Special thanks to Pastor David Thomas who offered a special blessing for our dinner as well as a few good turkey jokes! Thanks to Chief Briggs who checked in on us and delivered meals in Kingston and thanks to our wonderful team of volunteers who get as much joy out of serving as those being served. Once again, there was an abundance of delicious pies and we wish to thank the people within our community who just materialize with these heavenly desserts. Thank you to the First Congregational Church of Kingston who allowed us to utilize their beautiful facility and a very special thank you to Judy Oljey and the kitchen crew who created another fantastic feast. This was Judy’s 25th year of service with us!

On behalf of the Thanksgiving Day Event Coordinators Judy Oljey, Peg Waters and me, we want to thank you all for a wonderful year and we will see you next Thanksgiving! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
