---- — Elect Johannesen Animal Control Officer
My name is Sheila Johannesen and I am running for the Danville Animal Control Officer (ACO) position.
I was previously Danville’s ACO for seven years until the Selectmen got rid of the position. Now that the Town voted to reinstate the ACO position and has previously elected me to serve in 2013, I am running again for another one year term.
I am very passionate about my work and am very anxious to provide efficient and cost effective ACO services to the Town of Danville. When I was previously ACO for Danville, I realized that Danville was on a tight budget and was able to arrange for pet oxygen masks to be donated to the Town’s fire department. Also, rather than ask for training funds in order to stay current on the latest ACO methods, I was frequently able to obtain grants to fund my training.
In addition, I vigorously enforced the dog licensing laws, which generated revenue to offset my salary and costs. I have also established myself with the NH Department of Fish and Game and have worked very well with them in resolving local wildlife issues. In addition to my job tasks, I established a local nonprofit called the Danville RAINBOW Association (Rescuing Animals In Need By Offering Welfare). One of the primary purposes of this organization is to provide funds for pet food and pet medical care to persons who are having a tough time economically. The organization has also funded wildlife education demonstrations to the Danville Elementary School.
I am retired and have lived in Danville for more than 30 years. I am available 24/7 and, over the years, have become very familiar with most of the pets in Danville. I am anxious to serve and look forward to your support.
