Women's Issues in this Election

Carriage Towne News

---- — The Democrats are insulting women with their “Republican war on women” meme. The assumption that most women view abortion rights and “who pays for contraception” as the defining issues for women in this election is demeaning. Roe v. Wade became the law almost forty years ago and is not going to change now. Overturning Roe is neither Romney’s nor the Republican’s agenda.

For most thinking women, the most important issues concern the futures of their children, their economic security, and fostering an environment in which they can achieve their dreams. Most of the thoughtful women I know believe that the lack of job prospects for their children, the crushing debt that this administration has grown so dramatically, and now the disturbing questions about the security of our diplomats and nation, are the issues that should decide this election. Unfortunately, the campaigns have resorted to outright lies, quotes out of context, and distortions.

It distresses me that so many people are willing to accept the party lines without really understanding the facts and what is at stake with this election. There is a clear distinction between the two presidential candidates and it is time for the women of our nation to stand and fight for the future for our families. For me, this clearly means a vote for Mitt Romney.
