I am one of the 47%

Carriage Towne News

---- — I’m an average American. I am 42 years old, married, and have a 4 year old daughter. My husband works full time, and I stay at home because of a disability. I am one of the 47% that Governor Romney says need to take “personal responsibility” for my life.

I resent that on so many levels. I’d love to work full time. I would adore to be wealthy and make money hand over fist in capital gains. I don’t, but that doesn’t make me less of a person. I will vote for President Obama to have a second term, and I have spread the word in support of our President as best as I can. I don’t want to raise my daughter in a country where she won’t have control over her own body.

As stated in the NY Times on June 28, 2012, “The winner of the race for president will inherit a group of justices who frequently split 5 to 4 along ideological lines. That suggests that the next president could have a powerful impact if he gets to replace a justice of the opposing side.”

If Governor Romney is elected, there is a strong probability that he will have the opportunity to appoint as many as four Superior Court Justices during his term. My daughter is 4 now. I don’t want her to lose her right to choose. I hope that she never has to exercise it, but I want it incase she needs it. I want her to grow up in a country where she is valued as much as a boy, has the opportunity to have an affordable college education, a equal-paying job when she is old enough and mostly to live in a country where it is easy to be a proud patriot.

I strongly suggest to all of my friends and neighbors here to get out and vote for President Obama and a Democratic Ticket on November 6!
