To the Editor:

I am shocked and angry at the phony and ridiculous excuses many Obama supporters make in defending Reverend Jeremiah Wright. They say the TV and newspaper reports have taken the Reverend’s words out of context (an unbelievable lie), and they keep repeating and repeating one clip of a sermon on video in which he God damns America (another unbelievable lie). But the Reverend’s supporters never mention that he is anti-Israel, anti-Semitic, as well as anti-America in many of his sermons. Nor do the Reverend’s supporters mention that he is a close friend of anti-Semitic Louis Farrakhan, another hate monger.

The Reverend Wright’s defenders and even Obama claim all these negative facts do not define what a wonderful man he is for all the good he has done for his people and the community. I don’t doubt that he has done good deeds over the years, but does that balance out all the negative aspects of his life? As a WWII veteran who went through five campaigns in Europe, including eight months in the Army of Occupation in Germany. I came home after the war to hear and read articles by nationalistic Germans in this country about all the good Adolph Hitler did for the German people and the country. Yes, I did see some of the good when my telephone construction battalion was quartered for a few days in Munchen-Glabach, a city located halfway to the city of Cologne on the Rhine River.

Hitler built very good highways, factories, and new apartment buildings for the workers as he built up his war machine. In Munchen-Gladbach we saw very nice looking, 3-story apartment buildings for the workers. The buildings were empty because the people left as the American Army approached. My friend and I went into 4 or 5 of the well-decorated and comfortably furnished apartments, and we did admire it all. But then we made a startling discovery! Each kitchen has a table with a large tablecloth over it that almost reached the floor. Hidden under each table was a cardboard box filled with adult shoes and smaller-sized children’s shoes, which at first puzzled us. And then the horrible truth hit us; these were the shoes of the Jewish men, women and children and non-Jewish prisoners murdered by the Nazis in the concentration camps!

That is why every time I hear about the good deeds performed by an evil person, I am reminded of Munchen-Gladbach. We heard the same about the good deeds of Saddam Hussein from the Sunnis and Bathists who still love Hussein. Have we been fair in overlooking Saddam Hussein’s good deeds too? I feel Barack Obama showed poor judgement when he lied and said he never heard any of Reverend Wright’s hate sermons and the next day admitted he did hear those sermons. I am disappointed that he took two weeks to state that if Reverend Wright had not resigned from the church, he would have left the church. That is why I will not vote for Obama, but I will vote for Hillary despite the mistakes she has made in running her campaign. Let’s see how a woman will run this country with all the problems we face today.

To the Editor:

Recession! There, I said it, now let’s wake up and realize we are in one and then do our utmost to survive and emerge from this economic downturn.

We are about to receive our economic stimulus checks from our Federal government and need to use these wisely. Understandably, many people will use this money to pay down debt. But, many will spend this money for goods and services.

I would urge all citizens, who will be spending this money, to buy American made products. Otherwise the money will be spent helping foreign economies and not our own.

I have traveled a great deal across our country for business and the term “Rust Belt” has nothing to do with ground color. From Buffalo to Chicago lie the remnants of hundreds and hundreds of closed factories due in part to our love of foreign products. Granted this was somewhat self-inflicted as the quality of American products declined but this is no longer the case. American made products have become equal in most cases to foreign products and we need to help reduce our balance of trade deficit.

We lament the loss of jobs across our country and need to stem this tide by supporting American companies. We will hear people say that foreign cars are built in the USA but most of the parts are not, it is much cheaper to ship parts than assembled products, which is why we have foreign assembly plants on our soil.

Please spend these dollars to boost our economy, otherwise our current recession will undoubtedly be lengthened and we will have missed an opportunity to help our fellow Americans.

Food Pantry Appreciates Donations

Thanks to all who donated to the food pantry. I would like to give you a brief update on the food pantry services for this past month. We have had several new families (seven families a week ago) come for service.

The food pantry had been very low on many items and then we received donations from the following groups: Sandown Central School, Sandown North School, East Hampstead Union Church, a large donation from Kingston Congregational Church, and a bible study group from the Rye/Greenland area. Monroe Muffler & Repair in Stratham collected twelve large boxes of canned goods and cereals, etc. The manager who lives in Sandown asked people to donate food when they came for repairs, etc. The Lion’s Club and the Mother’s Club sent checks – also others in town have brought gift certificates or checks. Many individuals have also left donations at the Town Hall.

Hannaford’s Supermarket continues to be a regular donator to the food pantry. Volunteers pick up pastry, deli items, fruit and vegetables every Friday at Hannaford’s. Last Friday, even in the snow storm, seventeen families came and eleven families came this past Friday to the pantry for service. I have seen a large increase in people who need service since they have lost their jobs, their homes, etc.

I want to thank Helen LoPresti and the other workers at the town hall who help in bringing goods from the town hall to the pantry. I want to express my thanks to so many people for their constant donations each month. If the food pantry did not exist, more people would be at the Town Hall looking for welfare assistance.

Some new donation boxes have been placed at the Coffee Connection and gift shop and at Jack’s and my thanks to them also.

Many, many people help me each week and I thank you all.

To the Voters of Kingston:

Thank you so much for your support of Article 34 for $1500 to support the Kingston Lake Association’s Lake Host Grant Program through the NH Lakes Association. This support will allow us to have a paid Lake Host at the Town and State ramps throughout the summer.

The lake host program is a courtesy boat inspection for exotic aquatic weeds that may be brought into Kingston Lake from boats and/or trailers that come from other water bodies. This is particularly important to Kingston Lake since we are so close to Pow Wow pond which is infested with exotic milfoil. Your support of Articles 31 and 32 will help to improve Pow Wow pond. At present Kingston Lake is free from exotic aquatic weeds and we want to keep it that way. Sixteen members of the KLA are trained as Lake Hosts and will be volunteering their time to do courtesy boat inspections at the town and state ramps.

Your support of the mission of Kingston Lake Association is greatly appreciated, “To preserve and improve healthy water quality and sound use land practices in and around the Kingston Lake and watershed area.” If you are interested in other Kingston Lake Association activities, please log on to our web site at www.kingstonlakenh.com.

The next meeting of the Association is April 23 at 7:00 at the new Sanborn Regional High School in the media conference room. All meetings are open to the public. Protect, preserve and participate. Kingston Lake Association welcomes you.

Muriel Ingalls
KLA President
