In Memoriam: Lions Honor Longtime Comrade

By Larry Kennedy

They wanted to do something special...to last a lifetime. The Atkinson Lions Club honored 30-year member Joseph “Joe” DeRosa with a large customized rocking chair that has been placed in the Children’s Room at the Kimball Public Library, Academy Avenue, following ceremonies at the library. Joe was honored for his dedication to the club and his devotion to the town. He served on the Board of Selectmen, was a firefighter, and held various positions in town government and other volunteer groups and organizations. Standing from left, are Fran Dileo, board member; Al Goldstein, Lion president; Selectman Bill Friel and Richard Magoon, publicity chairman. Front row- Sarah Goldstein, daughter of Lion president Al and Chris Goldstein; Jonathan DeRosa, 13; George Winchell, Lion coordinator; Diane Heer, library director, and Carolyn Birr, children’s librarian. Seated is Mrs. Ellen DeRosa.
