---- — PORTSMOUTH — New Hampshire Theatre Project offers Summer Theatre Camps as a great way to educate students about the world and work of theatre. NHTP camps are held at the air-conditioned West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth and provide students with the opportunity to create and present their work in a professional theatre venue. All NHTP instructors have extensive experience working with students in both educational & theatrical settings. NHTP camps emphasize artistic excellence, critical thinking, teamwork, and lots of summer fun!

Kids Theatre Camp (ages 6-9): Now in its fourteenth year, KTC features creative drama, movement, and visual arts activities while bringing stories from page to stage. Campers meet Mon.-Fri., July 7-12, 9:00 a.m. to Noon, with final performances at 10:00 and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The cost is $300.00.

Teen Theatre Camp (ages 13-17): This incredibly popular camp will focus on Alternative History this year –creating and adapting characters from real life history and classic literature. Participants will learn acting skills, along with vocal & physical techniques, and improvisation. Past Teen Camps have featured, Vaudeville, Classic Comedy, Sherlock Holmes, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Dumas’The Three Musketeers. Campers meet from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the first week (July 7-11), and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the second week (July 14-18). Final performances will be presented Fri., July 18 at 7:00 p.m., and Sat., July 19 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. The cost is $500.00.

Story Theatre Camp (ages 8-12): NHTP’s premiere camp has been a favorite of seacoast children for 19 years. The theme of Story Theatre Camp 2014 is Around the World in 60 Minutes, featuring myths and stories from many different cultures. Activities include acting, writing, movement, visual arts and music with an emphasis on ensemble performances based on children’s literature and original writing by participants. Campers meet Mon.-Fri., July 21-August 2, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with final performances on Fri., August 1 at 7:00 p.m., and Sat., August 2, at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The cost is $500.00.

Strafford Summer Arts –World Tales (ages 8-12): Held at Strafford School for almost twenty years, this popular camp features immersion in theatre, music and visual arts. Campers perform scripts, play music, and create sets and costumes in stories from many different cultures. Strafford Summer Arts is held August 4-8, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The final performance takes place on Fri., August 8, 6:30 p.m. at Strafford School. (Note: This camp is NOT held at West End Studio Theatre). The cost is $300.00, $250.00 for Strafford residents.

All tuition fees include a DVD of the camp performance. No refunds after June 1, 2014. Tuition may be paid by checks made out to NH Theatre Project and mailed to NHTP Camps, 959 Islington Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801, or by credit card online at www.nhtheatreproject.org/payment. Camp deposit is due at time of registration. Scholarships may be available for students with demonstrated need.
