Night Fishing

NEWBURYPORT, MA —Officials at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge have announced that walk-on night fishing is now allowed at the refuge’s Lot 1 beach, 6 Plum Island Turnpike, Newburyport, MA. Night fishing permits can be obtained at either the refuge visitor center during normal business hours (M-F, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) or at the refuge entrance station. Permits are $10.00 (or $5.00 for people age 62 or older).

Opening of additional areas of the refuge beach to fishing are conditioned by the status of the piping plover breeding season. The plover is a federally threatened species.

Those having further questions about fishing on the refuge are invited to call 978-465-5753. Additional, updated information may also be available through the refuge website, http://www.fws.gov/refuge/parker_river/.
