MANCHESTER — The Cathedral of St. Joseph will hold two holiday music events – their annual Advent Lessons and the first annual performance of Handel’s Messiah (Christmas portion).
Under the director of Diocesan & Cathedral Director of Music, Eric Bermani, the Cathedral Chamber Singers will lead the annual Advent Lessons and Carols on Fri., December 14, 7:00 p.m. in the intimate space of the Cathedral’s Blessed Sacrament Chapel, located on the corner of Union and Pine Streets in Manchester. Traditional Advent hymns, chants and choral music by Bach, Handel, Manz and Praetorius will be featured. Come mediate on sacred scripture and let your soul be stirred by beautiful choral music and chants for the season of Advent. Freewill offering; wheelchair accessible.
On Fri., December 21 at 7:30 p.m., soloists will join forces in singing the Christmas portion of G.F. Handel’s monumental Messiah. There is a suggested freewill offering of $15.00 that will directly benefit the Cathedral’s Music Ministry. The Cathedral is located on the corner of Pine and Lowell Streets in Manchester. The Cathedral is wheelchair accessible.
