Cooking Classes

EXETER —If you’re looking for a creative way to spend your evening and expand your menus for home cooked meals sign up now for one of Exeter Adult Education cooking courses:

Quick & Easy Cooking: Start with the basics and re-invent some classic meals to make them more fun and enjoyable at the family dinner table. Participants will touch on basic cooking principles and what role they play in preparing a recipe. Class will be held for three Mondays, beginning February 4 or March 11, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. in SST culinary arts kitchen. The cost is $65.00.

Italian Cooking: Learn to make homemade pasta, sauces or cookies and biscotti for your family on Thursday nights, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Classes include: Pasta Making, three weeks, beginning February 7, $65.00; Italian Sauces, three weeks, beginning March 7, $65.00; Italian Cookies, two weeks, beginning March 28, $45.00; and Italian Biscotti, two weeks, beginning April 11, $45.00.

Traditional Greek Cooking: Learn to make classic dishes including spinach pie, feta cheese pie, pastitsio, mousaka, stuffed peppers, cookies, cakes and baklava on Tuesdays, three weeks, beginning February 5, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. The cost is $65.00.

Homemade Couture Chocolates & Transfers: Learn to make your own chocolates for that special valentine in this one night course. Bring box to take your finished chocolates home. Class will be held on Tuesdays, February 5 or February 12, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. The cost is $50.00 and includes all supplies.

Make Your Own Artisan Bread: No kneading involved! Discover a simple method of making French or Italian style bread that’s chewy on the inside and crusty on the outside. Learn to make the dough, cloak it, and shape it into boules, baguettes or ciabatta. Each student will leave with a fresh loaf of bread and dough to make more at home. Bring a large glass, ceramic, or plastic bowl and a wooden spoon. Class will be offered on Tues., March 12, Mon., April 15, or Thurs., May 16, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. The cost is $35.00.

Cake Decorating for Beginners: Train with a Wilton Methods Instructor and learn the basics to make one of a kind creation for your family and friends in this hands on class. Explore borders, flowers, plus construct a cake from start to finish. Bring 6 flat cookies to the first class. Cake decorating kit included in fee. Class will be held on Tuesdays, four weeks, beginning March 19, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The cost is $80.00.

Gluten Free Cooking & Baking: Join award-winning chef/instructor to make gluten free desserts, soups and entrees from scratch. Oonagh will bring her own equipment and an ingredient since the kitchen facility is not gluten free. Participants will choose recipes at the first class and have the chance to taste everything! This class will be held on Tuesdays, three weeks, beginning April 16 or May 14, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The cost $60.00.

Fun With Cupcakes: A one night class designed for beginners is available on Mondays, April 8 or May 6, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The cost is $45.00 and includes cupcake decorating kit included.

Pre-registration is required for all classes.   • Catherine F. "Kitty" (Clements) Brown, 66

    Ft. Gibson, OK — Catherine F. "Kitty" (Clements) Brown passed away February 17, 2013, at her home in Ft. Gibson, Okla., after a brave battle with cancer. Kitty was born in Brentwood, N.H., on April 21, 1946, to the late Chester H. Clements and Catherine F. (Morse) Clements. She was raised in Kingston, N.H., and graduated from Sanborn Seminary. She lived for many years on Plum Island, Mass. While living on Plum Island, she was a columnist and photographer for The Daily News of Newburyport, as well as a school bus driver.

  • Ted "Teddy" Bolduc

    Fremont, N.H. — Ted “Teddy” Burleigh Bolduc, was born the youngest son of Phyllis and Joseph Bolduc Sr., on May 22, 1962. He died suddenly April 8, 2013, after a brief illness. Ted lived for most of his life in Fremont and Raymond. He was well known for his skills with heavy equipment and worked all his life in construction and excavation in the Fremont and Epping area. In addition to his work, he loved ice hockey, baseball, hunting, country music, and animals, especially his dog Finlay. He was very proud of, and also loved by, his very large family.
