PORTSMOUTH —The Portsmouth Community of Mindfulness (formerly known as the Buddhist Sangha at South Church) is offering their annual New Year’s Day meditation and Tea at Karnan House (206 Court Street) on Wed., January 1, at 3:00 p.m. Seacoast residents are invited to welcome the new year with this the opportunity to practice relaxation, peace, joy, and solidity.
There will be a period of sitting meditation, a Dharma Talk and discussion, followed by tea and cookies.
“This is when we want to make new beginnings that are rooted in peace and joy and that are based in the spirit of community” says Avi Magidoff, an acupuncturist and meditation facilitator for the group. “We will set the stage up for the coming year by coming together and generating the energy of mindfulness through practicing sitting meditation, and drinking tea together in an atmosphere of peace and joy. Tea meditation is a wonderful practice that allows us to experience our deepest calm and greatest joy and our inter-connectedness.”
The event, free of charge, will take place at South Church’s Karnan House (206 Court Street in Portsmouth). All are welcome and no prior meditation experience is required.
The Portsmouth Community of Mindfulness meets every Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Karnan House for meditation and discussion.
