  • Ronald Dawson, 84

    East Kingston, NH — Ronald C. Dawson, 84, died July 6, 2012 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH after a period of failing health. He was born October 12, 1927 in Maynard, MA., son of the late Charles B. and Rachel (Cook) Dawson. Ron grew up in Maynard, MA. and was a graduate of Maynard High School. He enlisted into the United States Coast Guard and served during WWII. Ron was also a veteran of the United States Navy. In 1954, he married Mary-Ellen Woodward. They permanently settled in East Kingston, NH to raise their children. Ron worked for 25+ years and later retired from Suburban Propane. He initially began at the Sudbury, MA branch and was later transferred to the Plaistow, NH office. After retirement, he worked part-time as a Bailiff for 15 years at the Rockingham County Courthouse. Ron was a talented woodworker, who made many beautiful furniture pieces for his family. He farmed his land, raising animals and growing vegetables. He was an extremely hard worker. Mr. Dawson was a member of the VFW in Kingston, Kingston Veterans Club, a Mason with the Gideon Lodge in Kingston, and a former Shriner. Ron was a man of many friends, who will greatly miss him. He was pre deceased by a brother, Bernard Dawson. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary-Ellen Dawson, his son, William W. Dawson, 3 daughters, Leslie H. Dawson, Kelli Dawson, and Tracy-Lynne Dawson, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Constance Bartlett, Thelma Greenaway, and Lois Baker, and several nieces and nephews.

  • Daniel F. Sullivan, Sr., 75

    Hampstead, NH — Daniel F. Sullivan, Sr., 75, of Hampstead, NH, died peacefully Saturday June 30, 2012 in the Prescott House in North Andover, MA. He was born in Boston, MA on March 25, 1937, a son of Dennis and Elizabeth (Scanlon) Sullivan, and had been a resident of Hampstead for over 35 years. Mr. Sullivan was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Following the war, he was employed with Boston Edison, remaining with them for many years, until he retired from them when it was NSTAR. Mr. Sullivan had a strong work ethic, and enjoyed working long and hard and did not take a lot of time for himself. He was a member of the Local Utilities Union in Boston. Following retirement he took annual trips to Ireland with his wife. Mr. Sullivan was a "jack of all trades" and was always willing to help friends and neighbors. A sports fan all of his life, he enjoyed following all the local teams. Mr. Sullivan loved to spend time with his grandchildren and family.
