Why say 'No' to Article 8 to buy and renovate a small, late 50s era downtown building with limited parking? Three reasons: to maintain public use of schools, to keep the dream of a Community Center alive, and to focus on more critical needs in these hard economic times.
Keeping meetings at the high school puts the partnership between the schools and the citizens who fund them front and center. Keeping RCTV operations at the high school (middle school, or elementary school currently slated for renovation) is the most cost effective option while Raymond weathers the economic downturn and continues to save for a community center, a priority that emerged close to number one during our 2009 Master Plan visioning meetings. Spending down the Town New Facilities CIP and the Cable TV Special Revenue Fund for the next ten years pushes better options away.
Raymond has critical needs for safe space for town and safety employees, for road repairs, and for new town water wells. RCTV needs more space too, and citizens should support a new agreement between RCTV and the schools.
