Candidate for Library Trustee

Our Danville Public Library is a vibrant educational and social resource that we cherish as a community, and as a Library Trustee, I will help continue to make it the gem of Danville.

My experience working as a Librarian showed me the important, wide array of Public Library services. As an editor for twenty years at a publishing press I have much experience working in groups to build consensus toward the complicated process of publishing books. This experience gives me the tools necessar to be an effective library trustee that the citizens expect in elected officials.

I share in our community's vision and goal for our Library, widening its uses and contributions: Young Adult Writing Groups, Historical Research Groups, and more local artist exhibits are just some possibilities, in addition to the current Book Groups, Storytimes and Craft groups, none of which would add to the budget but would enhance and further engage our community.

Today's technologies do not replace traditional library usage: they are an exciting extension. Our Library now offers eBook training for digital Library loans for those who own Nooks, Kindles, and iPads. New circulation software will be upgraded soon to include an online Card Catalog from which patrons can reserve and request items from their home computer. For those without internet access at home, the Colby Memorial Library provides a needed service for residents such as internet access, job searching and resume printing.

My experience as a librarian and in the publishing world makes me an asset to the Colby Memorial Library. As Library Trustee I will continue to make the library accessible to the people of Danville and promote the Library's many services and resources. Vote for Sarah Weston as Library Trustee on March 13
