Support Article #18

The Gale Library Board of Trustees would like to ask the residents of Newton to approve Warrant Article 18, which will change the Library Director's position from a part-time to a full-time one.

The Gale Library continues to set records each year in its circulation of books, magazines, and videos, its programming, and computer use by the public. Our technical inventory is becoming more complex. Our part-time director needs more time to research and purchase materials, plan ever-increasing numbers of programs for the public and to coordinate our 6 part-time employees. The Trustees believe that we need a full-time director to implement all these programs and to maximize the functioning of the library as a community resource.

The additional cost to you the taxpayer would be $3.75 for a house valued at $250,000. This would cover the cost of additional wages and benefits for the full-time position. Please vote "Yes" on Article 18, to make the Gale Library Director a full-time position in order to better meet the growing needs of our library community.

Thank you for your support.
