    Several Sanborn Regional High School (SRHS) students were honored at the Seacoast School of Technologies National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) for their outstanding contribution in career and technical education. These students have demonstrated high quality in the areas of Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship and Leadership. These students have also achieved a minimum academic average of 90 in their technical program at SST for six quarters, shown a serious career interest, have demonstrated professional behavior in their academic pursuits and have made significant contributions to the SST community. All NTHS inductees will ear a sash at the SST Certificate Ceremony and at their high school graduation. This year’s inductees are: Christopher Chase, Matthew Cote, Mackenzie Deschenes, Michael Jesso, Nicholas Kaminski, Ryan Keiran, Ethan Larkham, Kevin MacMillan, Kyle McLaughlin, Robert Morse, Caitlyn Pagnottaro, and Jessica Wood. Congratulations to each of these students for showing their Sanborn P.R.I.D.E!

  • Seacoast Goes National

    The 2014 New Hampshire Vocational Clubs of America (VICA) Leadership Skills ISA Championships were held all over the state. Students from Seacoast School of Technology in Exeter received two first place awards and will represent the State of New Hampshire in the National Skills Championship in Kansas City, Missouri. Finalists include: Ryan Murray, Kingston; Jeremy Claar, Exeter; and Tiger Thongchanh, Exeter. There is a fundraiser set for Sat., May 10, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., at the Masonic Hall, Church Street in Kingston. Each finalist has to raise approximately $967.50 to attend the Nationals.   • Taylor Places in Geographic Bee

    On April 4th, Hampstead Academy 8th grader, Daniel Taylor, participated in the National Geographic Bee in Keene. The National Geographic Bee is a competition held each year among the state’s 4th - 8th graders. The competition is designed to encourage the subject of geography in the classrooms, peak interest in the subject and bring awareness of geography to the community. Students compete in a challenging and engaging way to test the knowledge of geography. Daniel competed against 100 students to finish an incredible second in the state. He has proudly represented Hampstead Academy for the last four years. Congratulations, Daniel!

    Kingston Junior Troop 12782 had a great time earning their Practice with Purpose badge with Deshi Munoz at Ocasio's True Martial Arts in Plaistow. The girls brought a friend to show them how much fun girl scouting can be as part of their bridging requirements. They all broke boards with their hands. Great job girls!

    The COOL Kids Club of the Atkinson Congregational Church held a successful drive to help homeless families with donations of linens, cleaning supplies, hygiene items, towels, soap, shampoo, craft and school supplies, and much more. The donations were delivered to Emmanus shelters in Haverhill, MA. Some of the COOL Kids are, left, Cole Priest, Matthew William, Skye Priest, Sydney Monahan, and Jack Abel.     Merrimac, MA — Sandy entered into eternal peace at home in Tennessee on April 11. She was born in Malden, Mass., and went to Haverhill and Pentucket schools. She worked at AT&T in North Andover, at the shoe shop and nursing homes in Haverhill, and lastly at Danville store in Danville, N.H. Sandy moved to Tennessee in 2011 to welcome the birth of her first grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Carr; father, Roland Gurley, and grandparents, Virginia and Edson Peck. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband of 31 years, John Wagoner; son, Brandon Wagoner and his wife, Shannon; grandson, Derek; parents, Robert and Elaine Leatham; aunts, Sharon (Arthur) Benjamin, Nancy (Ed) Hamilton, Gloria Crumel, Ruth McKewen, and Uncle Charlie Peck. Also, several cousins, nieces, nephews, loving in-laws and a host of longtime friends.

    Sandown, NH — Jo Ann (Phelps) Hughes of Sandown, New Hampshire passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, surrounded by all of her children at home. She was born in Little Bend Kentucky, to Beatrice (Shepherd) Phelps and John (Cat) Phelps in 1934. Jo Ann was predeceased by brothers, Marcus Phelps, Johnny Phelps, Forrest Phelps and sisters, Juanita Phelps, and Jeanette (Phelps) Vincent. She is survived by brother, Donald Quiggins of Georgia; sisters, Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.
