The Junior 4-H’er of the Year Award was presented to Sarah Sidut of Brentwood. This award recognizes a 4-H member with an impressive record of achievement and a very well rounded 4-H experience. Sidut is club secretary of the Rockingham Roosters club.
She represented New Hampshire at the Big E in action exhibit and speech competitions. Additionally, Sidut took home first place in the Junior Novice division of this year’s Southern New England 4-H Poultry show at the University of Connecticut.
Anya Vogel of Raymond was recognized with the Dare Mighty Things Award. The award celebrates an older 4-H member who is moving on from the program, recognizes their achievements, and challenges the member to be a leader and to take risks while moving to life’s next stage. Vogel is an active member of two 4-H clubs, the Raymond Redtails and the Next Step Teen Club. She participated in a service trip to Dominica this past summer where she was “leader for a day.” Vogel challenges herself to connect with others and step out of her comfort zone to “make the best better.”
The UNH Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development program brings positive learning experiences to New Hampshire youth between the ages of five and 18 through afterschool activities, camps, teen conferences, and other events and activities aimed at expanding knowledge and encouraging community engagement and leadership.
