Students from the DeClerck Gallery in Plaistow, each donated a work of art to a very special Art Show. A wide variety of oil paintings, watercolors, pastels and graphite drawings were donated by the students to be sold at the art show with all the proceeds to support a well for “Kulea Villages”.
Michaela K. Horvath of Nottingham has been named to the spring semester Dean’s List at Radford University. Horvath is a sophomore foreign languages and literatures and psychology major.
University of Connecticut recently announced the students who attained the Dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester. Local students honored include: Emily Bergan of Exeter, Stephanie Brady of Newmarket, and Alexander Reardon of Raymond. University of Connecticut has also announced the following local students were graduated in December 2012, May 2013, and August 2013: Bryan Connors of Newton, Bachelor of Science in Engineering; Eric Sands of Newton, Bachelor of Science in Engineering; and Jessica Marx of South Hampton, Bachelor of Science.
On June 17 in the field located behind Sparhawk High School in Amesbury, MA, 17 year-old Jacob Rabideau of Plaistow, piloted a helicopter to his high school graduation ceremony. Accompanied by his flight instructor, Mike Holland from North Andover Flight Academy, Jake, who started taking helicopter lessons at the age of 12 and has completed multiple solo flights, and is one of the few high school students to ever make such an entrance and exit to a graduation ceremony. “It’s a unique experience. I have to thank Sparhawk for letting me do this,” says Rabideau. Jake plans on attending Daniel Webster College of Nashua, in the fall to study aeronautical engineering.
Ryan Glowacky of Brentwood and Heather Fuller of Plaistow received a Bachelor of Science degrees from Framingham State University on May 19.
Maine Maritime Academy recently graduated more than 200 students, many of whom were placed on the college’s Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement in the second semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. Local students honored include: Ashley Burnett, a Marine Science major from Danville; Daris Kenter, a Marine Science major from Kingston; and Alexander Toth, a Marine Systems Engineering major from Sandown.
