Cameron Roux, of Atkinson, a seventh grade student at the Sparhawk School in Amesbury, MA, recently performed at “Stand Up to Bullying,” a program designed to educate, motivate and empower young people to promote social change in their schools and communities. The event was held at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.
Michelle Roux, Cameron’s mother, described, “The Stand Up to Bullying event was such an incredible day. They had speakers who spoke of how it's okay to be different and to not let people get you down, and how beautiful everyone is.”
Cameron Roux and his band, popALERT, performed their song “I Don’t Deserve It,” a song about people joining the stand against bullying. The band is passionate about this issue and has performed at other anti-bullying events, including “Bullied to Silence.”
Sparhawk emphasizes a culture of kindness and encourages students to treat peers and adults with the kindness they deserve. Cameron’s involvement with anti-bullying events complements Sparhawk’s philosophy and the Sparhawk community is very proud of Cameron’s participation in such an important cause.
