Lamprey River Family Fun
EPPING — Come celebrate the Lamprey River! The full river is marking its first anniversary in the NH Rivers Management and Protection Program, an acknowledgment by the State of New Hampshire that the Lamprey is a valuable asset for nature, history, recreation, and clean water. Also, with the removal of the Bunker Pond Dam in W. Epping and the completion of a fish ladder at Wiswall Falls in Durham, fish in the river can now potentially travel from Great Bay all the way to Northwood. This is the first year in about 250 years that fish can make their journey home to historic spawning grounds.

Plant/Book Sale
BRENTWOOD — The Brentwood Gardeners' annual Plant Sale will be Sat., May 19, at the Mary E. Bartlett Library, 22 Dalton Road, Brentwood. At the same time, the Friends of the Library will have their annual Book Sale. The sale will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 12:00 noon or sell-out, whichever comes first.

EPPING — The Epping Historical Society (EHS) will conduct guided tours of the Folsom (Bunker Pond) dam and mill site during Lamprey River Family Fun Day on Sun., May 20. This free family event takes place at Mary Folsom Blair Park in West Epping from 1:00-4:00 p.m., rain or shine.

St. Jude Golf Open
PLAISTOW — The St Jude Council #6617 of the Knights of Columbus will be holding their 17th annual Golf Open on Sat., June 2, at 7:30 a.m., at Apple Hill in East Kingston. The Open is a scramble format and the cost of play is $95.00 per person. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, gifts, a free raffle, steak tip meal, and, most importantly, a chance to help out a local family in need.

Seacoast Idol Auditions
EXETER — Auditions for the Seacoast Idol 2012 will be held on Sat., May 12, beginning at 9:00 a.m., at the Exeter Town Hall, 9 Front Street, Exeter. Singers are asked to bring a CD for their background music. Judges will consider vocal tonality and range, volume and pitch, originality in expression, stage presence, theater moves, connection to audience, marketability, and overall performance.

Students Honored in NH Math League
The Math League is dedicated to bringing challenging mathematics materials to students. League specialties include math contests, books, and computer software designed to stimulate interest and confidence in mathematics for students from the 4th grade through high school. Over one million students participate in Math League contests each year. Contest questions are designed to cover a range of mathematical knowledge for each grade level. They're fun too! Hampstead Academy Upper School students competed in the Math League 2012 Contest. Outstanding individual scores were earned by Daniel Taylor in grade 6, who placed Second in the state and by Noam Hantman in grade 8, who placed Second in the state at his grade level. In the team competition, Grade 6 placed Third in the state, Grade 7 placed Third in the state, and Grade 8 placed Fourth. Congratulations Math League competitors!

RAYMOND — The Rockingham County Executive Committee held its review of the County's 2012 first quarter budget. We debated several line items that were a little high, but found them to be things normally done and do not follow quarterly spending, such as bulk purchases which are done as needed The total appn./expenditures were 25%.
